Create Veeam backup account
When creating a Veeam backup account, the first thing you need to choose is between a backup account with or without immutability. Immutability allows you to make backups that cannot be modified or deleted during the set period, which is an excellent tool against ransomware attacks.
Please note, that each account created is independent and needs to be configured in your Veeam backup tool.
Create a Veeam backup account (without immutability)
To create a Veeam backup account, click on the "Create" button and the "Backup" option. Select the GB space you need, with a minimum of 500. In addition to the values shown in the selection bar, you can always manually enter the exact value you want in the box on the right, in 100GB increments.
Optionally, you can select:
- The creation of a "WAN Accelerator". (Important: make sure your edition of Veeam Backup supports it), which allows you to reduce the volume of data transferred. Depending on the selected storage size, "WAN Accelerator" might have an additional cost. If you already have a Veeam replication and/or Veeam backup immutable account with "WAN accelerator", it will be possible to share it with your Veeam backup account.
- "Insider protection" with a 7-day retention, which provides additional security against possible ransomware attacks. This service is available at an additional cost.
